A group calling itself, Founder’s Agenda of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the three northern regions is seeking Allah’ intervention to unite the top hierarchy of the party and the grassroots in the country.
The group, which was made up of a number of youth groups, cadres, and some senior Mallams, reiterated the NDC’s mantra as a social democratic party built on probity, accountability and development by its founder, former president Rawlings; claiming that, the current crop of leaders in the party have swayed from the main pillars that the party was built on.
Speaking at a Muslim prayer in Tamale, a member of the group, Mohammed Rashad said the party has lost its values and responsibilities towards grassroots which form the core values of the NDC.
Mr Rashad also challenged government officials who claim Rawlings’s absence would not affect the future of the NDC in 2012 elections to conduct a survey on the impact of the former first family.
The group further urged government to support the 31st December women’s movement to enhance their income generating activities of women which form majority of the voters.
The group also cataloged a number of development projects during former president Rawlings administration projects including extension of electricity to the three northern regions, provision of good drinking water and the establishment of the University for Development Studies in Tamale among others.
