Northern regional executives of NDP defect to NDC

Executives of the National Democratic Party in northern region have defected to join the ruling National Democratic Congress.The executives say they have taken the decision at this crucial moment to abandon the NDP because they were misled to join the NDP which they accused of destroying the electoral fortunes of the NDC in this year’s elections.  Addressing a news conference to announce their defection to the NDC, the regional treasurer of the NDP, Abdalai Abdul-Majeed and the youth leader papa Yawson said they were disillusioned about some leaders in the NDC in the past, but now realized that the party interest is supreme.The executives also described the leadership of the NDP as frustrated and confused and stated that the party has lost direction saying they will not want to be part of a disgraced family.  Mr. Abdul-Majeed claimed they were lured to join the NDP by some members who he said are now hiding their faces. He said they have also realized that some self seeking persons are trying to use them to destroy their mother party the NDC.The former northern regional treasurer of the  NDP said they have hope and confidence that the better Ghana agenda and retaining power for continuity in 2013 under president and flagbearer of the NDC,John Dramani Mahama citing former president Rawlings commitments that there is a new spark in the NDC since President John Mahama became the leader.This,  Mr. Abdul-Majeed said justifies their decision  to re-unite with the NDC to strengthen it to enable the party to chase the elephant into the bush as it happened in 2008 elections.  Among the presidential candidates according to the former NDP treasurer, president Mahama stands tall because of what he calls a president with an inter-generational leadership who walks his talk.He pledged their support for President Mahama for 2012 elections and called on all disgruntled members across the country who think they can find solace in the NDP to rescind their decisions  and join President Mahama's campaign for resounding victory come December 7 polls.]]>
