Students of the Kumbungu Senior High School (SHS) are calling on the Ghana Education Service to remove their headmaster, Francis Tia Dokurugu immediately.

The students say the headmaster, Francis Tia Dokurugu’s long stay after his retirement last year does not no longer help the school. They accuse him of poor administrative skills to supervise the teachers.

The one thousand six hundred students say they don’t like arm-chair headmaster but rather an effective headmaster who can help uplift the school to catch up with the rest of the second cycle schools in the country.

The Headmaster after sensing danger on his way to the school on Monday morning pulled up his car and parked it far away from the school’s premises and later sneaked into the campus without the knowledge of the demonstrating students.

The students further claim some administrative staff are also not happy about the way and manner the headmaster is managing the school which adversely affect it. Kumbungu Senior high school is one of the deprived schools in the northern region bedeviled with several challenges including accommodation of the students.

The students also petitioned the Kumbungu district assembly, the district education directorate and also reported the matter to the paramount chief of Kumbungu traditional area. Mr Francis Tia Dokurugu, according to the students, retired last year and was mandatorily supposed to pave way for an effective headmaster to take over.

Some of students who spoke to Zaa News accused the headmaster reneging on his responsibility and his continue stay in the school be detrimental to them.

When contacted, the Kumbungu headmaster declined comment on the matter except to say the matter is before authorities of G.E.S and some major stakeholders for an amicable solution.
