In a significant move aimed at addressing the long-standing issue of neglected infrastructure, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Yendi Constituency, Lawyer Alhassan Fatawu Jofa, hosted a high-powered delegation from the GetFund at the national level earlier today. The delegation, led by the Deputy Administrator of GetFund, Hon. Alhassan Sualihu Dandawa, was in Yendi to assess and gather firsthand information on several abandoned GetFund projects initiated under the erstwhile Mahama administration in 2015/2016.

The visit focused on key institutions in the region, particularly the St. Vincent College of Education and the College of Health Sciences (Yendi Hats), both of which have faced severe setbacks due to stalled development projects. The delegation observed that all GetFund projects initiated during the Mahama administration had been left incomplete for the past eight years under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government. This neglect has left both institutions struggling with inadequate infrastructure, severely limiting their capacity to admit new students and meet the educational needs of the region.
During the visit, the team also toured the College of Health Sciences (Yendi Hats), which similarly faces urgent infrastructure deficits. The lack of proper facilities at both schools has hindered their growth and ability to cater to the growing educational demand in Yendi and surrounding communities.
In his remarks, Hon. Alhassan Sualihu Dandawa expressed gratitude to the MP for his continued advocacy and efforts to bring the attention of the national government to these critical issues. He assured the Principals of the institutions that work on the abandoned projects would commence before the end of the year, with the aim of providing the necessary infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning in the affected schools.“We recognize the hard work of the MP and his relentless drive to ensure that development reaches the people of Yendi,” said Hon. Dandawa. “We will work tirelessly to ensure that these projects are completed, providing the needed support to the educational institutions and uplifting the region’s educational standards.”
In a statement, MP Lawyer Alhassan Fatawu Jofa expressed his deep appreciation to the Deputy Administrator and his team for responding positively to his invitation. He emphasized the importance of completing the abandoned projects, not only for the benefit of the institutions but also for the students who are the future of the country.
“I am grateful to the Deputy Administrator and the GetFund team for their commitment to resuming these crucial projects,” the MP said. “The people of Yendi have waited too long, and it is time for these vital educational structures to be brought back to life.”The MP’s tireless advocacy for development has not gone unnoticed, with many praising his selfless dedication to improving the lives of his constituents. Thanks to his relentless push, the people of Yendi and its surrounding communities are hopeful that the long-delayed projects will soon be completed, bringing much-needed educational infrastructure to the area.
As the GetFund delegation returns to Accra, the residents of Yendi eagerly await the swift action promised by the Deputy Administrator, as well as the continued leadership of their MP in securing the region’s development.
