The north is in a better position now to succeed, our caucus will ensure it is achieved-Majority leader

Majority leader and member of parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga have disclosed that members of parliament from the north have resolved to prioritized development of the northern Ghana devoid partisan politics.  

  The leader of government business said, the five regions constituting the northern caucus include Northern, Savannah, North East, Upper West and Upper East have resolve to put aside partisan politics for the development of north

 The five regions of northern Ghana in total he revealed has 57 members of parliament. Out of the number, 10 are on the ticket of NPP, 46 MPs on the ticket of NDC and one independent MP for Wulisen constituency who the majority leader said has chosen to do business with the NDC.

The present crop of MPs, he explained, are relatively young with few seniors who are in their 40s and early 50s. This, the majority leader noted, means that the north has energetic young people who have served either ministers, deputy’s or CEOs and deputy CEO in both NPP and NDC administrations.

 MPs from the north have decided to work together to the benefit of the people they represent devoid of partisan politics, Mahama Ayariga emphasized.

The majority leader underscores the need for young people to put aside partisan affiliations and come together as one people to think through challenges confronting the people and what they can do to address those challenges.

 The objective of the northern caucus among others the majority leader said, were to set aside partisan difference and forge a common commitment to the north, to work together to achieve the development of the north, to leverage on their knowledge and network, to lobby president Mahama, work with development partners as well as monitor and ensure government service are working efficiently to deliver public good in water, education and public infrastructure for the people.

Speaking at the Northern Ghana Development Conference at Dr Andani Andan Hall in the University for Development Studies in Tamale, Mahama Ayariga explained further that the northern caucus believe that northern Ghana development is paramount devoid of partisanship.

 The north, majority leader stated, is in a better position now to succeed and the caucus will ensure that the needed development is achieved.

Many of these young MPs, majority leader stated, are board members with some chairing very strategic boards across the spectrum of government.

 ’’MPs are not taking up people’s jobs but will seek to guide the development agenda of both state and non-state actors to drive the northern development agenda’’, Mahama Ayariga assured.
