GCB Bank PLC has organised a pre-departure engagement for Hajj pilgrims in the Tamale Zone, reaffirming its commitment to preparing customers for a smooth and fulfilling pilgrimage to Mecca.
The engagement, held ahead of the departure of the first batch of pilgrims in the coming weeks, brought together GCB Hajj Account holders for comprehensive guidance and support to ensure they are fully prepared for the spiritual journey.
Speaking at the event, the Bank’s Liability Product Manager, Richard Wobil, reiterated GCB’s commitment to supporting customers throughout their Hajj journey.
“The Hajj Account goes beyond savings. It is designed to support our customers every step of the way as they prepare for this important spiritual journey. We want our pilgrims to travel with confidence and peace of mind,” he stated.
The session focused on both spiritual and practical aspects of Hajj preparation. Pilgrims received detailed guidance on Hajj rituals, safety precautions, and key dos and don’ts. An interactive question-and-answer session allowed participants to seek clarification, while previous pilgrims shared personal experiences to help first-time travellers better prepare.

As part of the engagement, customers were issued insurance policy documents and Visa prepaid cards to facilitate safe and convenient transactions while in Mecca. Bank officials also provided guidance on accessing foreign exchange allocations in line with Bank of Ghana requirements.
Head of Channel and Distribution, Alhaj Mahmoud Gomda, noted that the Bank continues to develop tailored solutions to meet customer needs.
“Performing Hajj is a significant milestone for many of our customers, and we are focused on ensuring they have convenient access to financial services while they concentrate on their spiritual obligations,” he said.
The programme also featured remarks from Tamale Area Manager, Alhaji Ibrahim Seidu, and Lead Technical Advisor for Non-Interest Banking, Alhaji Muniru Mukhtar, who both highlighted the purpose of the engagement and GCB Bank’s ongoing support for pilgrims.
The initiative forms part of GCB Bank’s Hajj Account offering, which enables customers to save towards the pilgrimage while providing additional support services, including insurance, foreign exchange assistance, and pre-departure engagements.
GCB Bank PLC, with 183 branches and more than 340 ATMs nationwide, remains committed to delivering innovative financial solutions that support economic growth, promote financial inclusion, and empower individuals and businesses across Ghana.
