The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has donated a total of 400 bags of fertilizer to the Tamale Central Mosque and the Anbariya Islamic Institute to support farming activities of members of the two religious institutions.
The donation, made from the minister’s personal resources, comprised 200 bags of fertilizer for the Central Mosque and another 200 bags for the Anbariya Islamic Institute.
The fertilizers were presented separately on behalf of the minister by the Managing Director of the Produce Buying Company, Alhaji Abubakari Abdul Moumin.
Speaking during the presentation, Alhaji Abdul Moumin emphasized that the donation was a personal gesture by the minister and should not be misconstrued as a government intervention.

He explained that the minister appreciates the important role Islamic scholars play in society, not only in promoting Islamic teachings and moral values through preaching but also as active farmers who contribute to agricultural production and food security.
According to him, the donation is intended to support the beneficiaries in the current farming season and improve their productivity.
Receiving the items, representatives of the Central Mosque and the Anbariya Islamic Institute expressed profound appreciation to the minister for the generous support.
The representative of the Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Shaibu Labriga, and the General Secretary of the Anbariya Islamic Institute, Dr. Issah Abdallah Yakubu, described the gesture as timely and thoughtful.
They assured the minister that the fertilizer would be distributed to deserving beneficiaries to enhance crop production during the farming season and prayed for Allah’s continued blessings upon him for supporting the farming community.
