Court issues Bench Warrant For Arrest of Two-Over Sanitation

The Tamale District Court One has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of two persons for flouting a bye law of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly.
Yahuza Hamza and Adam Dagbandoo failed to keep their premises clean which posed a health hazard to themselves and the general public.
Three other persons, Adam Yakubu, Mahama Bashiru and Alhassan Yakubu who appeared before the court on similar offences have been fined one hundred and twenty Ghana cedis each or in default four months imprisonment.
Prosecuting, a senior Environmental Health Officer, Mahama Aburazam told the court that the accused willfully allowed insanitary drain on their premises contrary to section 79 sub section one of the local government act 462 of 1993.
He said even though environmental officers asked them to get rid of the filth they failed to oblige necessitating the court action.
In a related development ZAA news sources at the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly reveal that more of such cases would be charged to court to serve as deterrent to those who do not want to keep their surroundings clean.  ]]>
