The Paramount Chief of Busunu Traditional Area, Busunuwura Monasa Jonkpowu has called on government to turn its attention to the educational sector of the area by establishing a Senior High School at Busunu.
According to the chief, the large land map of the area and the number of junior high schools within the area makes it necessary for it to have a senior high school. Busunuwura noted that, the community have enough infrastructure to be used in the interim if government cannot provide some.
He also expressed his readiness to allocate any size of land required to make the establishment possible. The newly eskined chief believes that, education is the surest way to empower the youth therefore is his major priority. “Considering the large map of Busunu and the number of Junior High school students in Busunu, we are qualified enough to have a Senior High School.
Education is key to the development of individuals and communities and so therefore, one of my priorities as a Chief is to build the human resource of my people”, Busunuwura said. The chief has also set a seven member committee among the youth of the area to facilitate the establishment process.
The committee is to send his message to the relevant authorities to ensure that, his plea doesn’t fall on deaf ears. Several appeals made by the chief to government and its allies to give him a senior high school has not yielded any positive results, reason why the committee has been formed. Mr. Monasa is of the view that, if the committee continue to knock at the doors of authorities, his request will be granted.
He also believes with the efforts being made by government to enhance the educational sector of the country, it will definitely grant his request. Busunu traditional area has a student population of about 6,000 and the second largest community in the West Gonja Municipality of the Savannah region.
