The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Junior has been enskinned as the Gulkpegu Yelivuhi-Naa by the paramount Chief of Tamale, Gulkpe Naa Alhaji Alhassan Abdulai.
Mr Pratt, a leading member of Committee for Joint Action (CJA), a pressure group in Ghana thanked the chiefs and people of Tamale for honouring him.
He assured that, he would help in his own small way in championing the cause of the North. Mr Pratt who described himself as a Northerner urged the people in the Northern Region to embrace peace for the socio-economic development of the people.
He started his elementary school at the Sakasaka primary in Tamale while living in Kalpohini, a suburb of Tamale.
The Gulkpegu Yelivuhi-Naa emphasized that, Tamale continues to be the fastest growing city in West Africa and what is needed is absolute peace to improve the living conditions of the people. “We ought to ensure that the gap between the North and the South is bridged,’’ Kwesi Pratt appealed.
Mr Pratt stated this in Tamale when he joined the people of Tamale to celebrate the maiden Damba Durbar organized by the Gulkpe Naa Palace and the Dagbon Students Association (DASA).
Mr Pratt said there is hope for the North because educational infrastructure is everywhere in the region. This was by the courtesy of the first president of Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.
According to the Kwesi Pratt, the major problem confronting the North is poverty and all efforts must be geared towards alleviating the poverty among the people.
Over thirty 32 divisional chiefs of the Gulkpe Naa and their followers and several other youth chiefs attended the celebration held at the Tamale jubilee park.
