The Northern regional Minister Moses Bukari Mabengba has appealed to Muslims in the region to use this year’s fasting to reflect on their lives and be guided by the truth, especially as the country goes to the polls on December 7.
He stressed that every believer be it a Muslim or Christian must be guided by the truth in order not to plunge the country in chaos.
Mr Mabengba made the appeal when he presented hundred bags of rice and hundred bags of sugar to Muslim communities and traditional leaders in the Tamale metropolis on behalf of government at the precinct of the regional coordinating council.
The minister also dismissed accusations that his outfit neglected the Muslim community and urged such people to desist from such falsehoods as it will not inure any benefit to them.
Reacting to last week’s NPP press conference accusing him and the three MPs for not addressing the plight of the Tamale flood victims, the minister said the allegations were misplaced and unfounded because government donated some relief items to some of the flood victims through the Tamale Metropolitan NADMO.
Mr Mabengba described the NPP accusations as blatant lies. He stressed that Ghanaian electorates are well enlightened enough; saying lies will not earn any votes for the NPP.
The minister also appealed to the media to be guided by truth in their reportage, especially during this electioneering year.
The Chief Imam of the Tamale Central Mosque, Sheik Ahmed Abdul-Salam thanked the minister for his concern and continued support for the Muslim community in the region.
