Residents of Dingoni, a farming community in the Nanton district of the Northern Region, have passionately appealed to the government, philanthropists, and individuals to support the community in establishing a clinic. They cite significant challenges in accessing healthcare, particularly for pregnant women, as a critical concern.
Dingoni, home to over 1,000 people, lacks essential social amenities, with the absence of a health facility being the most pressing issue. Currently, community members are compelled to rely on neighboring communities for medical services, which poses severe risks, especially for women in labor.
In an interview with Zaa News, several women from Dingoni expressed their dire need for a local health facility. “We struggle to get medical attention whenever we fall sick,” said one resident. “Pregnant women suffer the most, as they have to travel long distances to receive care during labor.”
The assembly member for the community echoed the women’s concerns, emphasizing the urgent need for a clinic. “The health of our community is at stake,” he stated. “A local clinic would alleviate the burden of traveling to distant communities for medical services and significantly improve our well-being.”
The Wulana of Dingoni, speaking on behalf of the community chief, reiterated the call for assistance. “While we face many challenges in Dingoni, the lack of a clinic is our major concern,” he said. “We appeal to the government, NGOs, and kind-hearted individuals to help us build this essential facility.”
The residents of Dingoni remain hopeful that their appeal will be heard and that a health facility will soon be established to serve their community’s needs.
