Tatale-Sanguli DCE Appeals for More Staff, Vehicles and Motorbikes to Accelerate Development

TATALE-SANGULI, Northern Region — The District Chief Executive for Tatale-Sanguli, Hon. Mary Tagba, has appealed for urgent government support to address critical staffing and logistical challenges confronting the district, warning that inadequate resources are limiting the effective delivery of public services to residents.
Hon. Tagba made the appeal during a courtesy visit by the Head of the Local Government Service, Prof. Lord Kwaku Mensah, to the Tatale-Sanguli District Assembly on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

The DCE used the engagement to highlight the district’s pressing development needs, stressing that adequate human resources, reliable transportation and essential office equipment were critical to strengthening local governance and accelerating development.
Describing Tatale-Sanguli as a border district with significant agricultural potential, Hon. Tagba noted that its geographical location and size presented particular challenges that required sustained institutional support.
Staffing Shortages and Logistics Hamper Development
According to the DCE, inadequate staffing remains a major concern, with several vacant positions placing additional pressure on the officers available to serve the district.
She also identified shortages of computers, printers, office furniture and stationery as constraints affecting the work of departments within the Assembly.
Hon. Tagba further disclosed that the Assembly’s vehicles were in poor condition and frequently broke down, affecting monitoring exercises, revenue mobilisation and emergency response.
She described the lack of motorbikes for field officers as one of the most pressing operational challenges, explaining that personnel in agriculture, health, planning, social welfare and environmental health were struggling to reach remote communities.
The situation, she indicated, was undermining field activities and making it difficult for officers to extend essential services to residents across the district.
DCE Makes Three Key Requests
To address the challenges, Hon. Tagba appealed to the Head of the Local Government Service to facilitate the posting of additional staff to the district.
She also requested support for the provision of at least one or two pickup vehicles for the Assembly, alongside motorbikes for field officers and essential logistical supplies for departments.
The DCE expressed confidence that addressing these needs would improve staff performance, strengthen the Assembly’s ability to monitor development projects and ensure that public services reached communities more effectively.
Commitment to District Development
Despite the challenges, Hon. Tagba reaffirmed her commitment to advancing the government’s Reset Agenda in Tatale-Sanguli.
She stressed that the Assembly remained committed to working hard to improve the welfare of residents but required the necessary institutional resources to translate development plans into tangible results.
The appeal places renewed focus on the capacity of district assemblies to drive local development, particularly in rural and border communities where transportation, staffing and access to public services can present significant administrative challenges.
For Tatale-Sanguli, addressing these constraints would be essential to strengthening grassroots governance, improving service delivery and ensuring that development interventions reach communities across the district.

Hon. Tagba expressed appreciation to Prof. Mensah for the visit and the opportunity to present the district’s concerns, while reaffirming the Assembly’s determination to work towards sustainable development for the people of Tatale-Sanguli.
