Football star and pride of the north, FC Lorient striker Abdul Majeed Waris and Friends on Sunday, 12 June 2016 donated some cutlasses and an undisclosed amount of money to the workers of the Zujung cemetery in Tamale.
The donation is to enhance their work as undertakers. The Lorient Striker did not only donate the items, he equally took part in clearing the grounds for easy passage during burial.
Most workers who didn’t believe Warris could hold a cutlass were happy and excited. Warris in his speech told the workers not to hesitate to call on him for support. He has also promised to renovate the old and dilapidated buildings in the cemetry and to provide them with some digging tools.
Alhaji Alhassan Issifu (Baba Kisco) who received the items on behalf of his colleagues said, Waris is the first northerner and a player to come to them in such a humble manner.
He therefore expressed his profound gratitude to Warris and his friends and called for more collaborative efforts from all northern players to assist them in their work.
