The Northern Regional Police Commander Deputy Commissioner of Police(DCOP), Timothy Yoosa Bonga has charged personnel in the service to behave professionally in order that Ghanaian public will have full confidence on them.
According to him, the top hierarchy of the police are worried about the dwelling public confidence on the service and personnel must do all they can to restored the integrity of the Ghana police.
The transformation agenda by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) can only be realized if the attitude of the officers are change towards the people they serve, DCOP Timothy stated. Citizens he added can only volunteer information of criminals if they have full trust of the officers.
He reminded officers that without information from the public, the work of the police will be very difficult and combating crime cannot succeed.
He told officers in the northern region that they are servants in uniform and therefore must be polite in talking to the public.
DCOP stated this when addressed officers at the Jubilee park as part of activities marking police week celebration.
Speaking on the topic; Reviewing Police Public Partnership for safer communities, DCOP reminded police officers that the criminals are not in barracks, they are in town, they live in the communities and if police officers lack integrity of treating confidential information from citizens, they will never volunteer information.
If we change our attitude and show honesty, there is no way the public will not support the service because we are here to serve them, DCOP Timothy emphasized.
