We are poised to take Savelugu seat back from NPP – Wunbenkpang

The National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate for Savelugu constituency, Alhaji Abdulai Jacob Iddrisu Wumbenkpan has indicated that, the NDC is poised to take back the savelugu seat from the NPP come December 7, 2020.

He said the NDC in 2016 lost the seat to the NPP because of some misunderstanding that occurred between their members which is over now. According to him the party’s national executives together with the regional executives has resolved and brought to an end the differences between the members in the constituency.

He has therefore assured all NDC members in the constituency and beyond that, they will recapture the seat and encouraged constituents to come out and vote on December 7. Alhaji Wumbenkpan stated that, the NPP and the current savelugu MP, Abdul Sammed Gunu has in just four years messed up the constituency and therefore, he and the NDC need to come back and clean the mess.   

He made his comments after he filled his nomination to contest as Member of Parliament for savelugu constituency on the ticket of NDC las Friday.  

On his part, former DCE for Savelugu, Prince Askia Mohammed has expressed worry over the several names that has been missing during the voters register exhibition exercise. He appealed to the EC to ensure those names are returned on Election Day. He also assured the commission that, the NDC will abide by their regulations and conduct their campaign peacefully in the constituency.

The returning officer, Fuseini Sulemana on behalf of the commission pledged its commitment to ensuring the process is fair.

Meanwhile Alhaji Alhassan Iddrisu Bunglung who broke away from the NDC in 2016 to contest on the ticket of independent has again filled to contest in the upcoming elections. The NDC lost the seat to the NPP in 2016 when he decided to go independent after he was disqualified to contest the NDC primaries. His action split the NDC’s vote leading to the victory of Samed Gunu of the NPP.
