Gushegu And Bongu Traditional Areas Present GHC 45,225,000 To Dagbon Development Committee

The Dagbon Development Committee has received an amount of GHC 545,225 from Gushegu and Bongu traditional areas as the first tranche of contributions towards reconstruction of the Gbewaa palace. The amount raised was collected by volunteers from the people in over 405 communities in the Gushegu area. The regent selected six chiefs and tasked them to ensure that the contribute. The Gushegu Regent handed over the money to the Dagbon Development Committee at his palace in Gushegu. Each household in Tamale metropolis and Sagnarigu municipality are expected to pay 100 cedis while households in the rural districts in Dagbon levied 50 cedis. An official receipt bearing the name of Dagbon Development Fund is issued to each person or household who paid. The regent Gushegu, Abdulai Mahamudu selected six chiefs to supervise the collection. The six chiefs also selected 25 men including assembly members to do house-to -house collection. The Gushegu regent advised the people in his traditional area to continue to contribute to make Dagbon a proud kingdom. A member of the Dagbon development fundraising committee, Mr Abukari Nuhu spoke to Zaa News after receiving the money from the regent of Gushegu. The money received Mr Nuhu explained was part of ongoing collection of household contribution towards the Dagbon development agenda. He urged the public to have confidence in the process and disregard what he described as spoilers who are bent on Two chiefs from the six-member committee Jankpehi Naa and Bong- Naa entreated the people to ensure that spoke about the need for the residents to contribute.
