The Chairman of the National Ahlu Sunnah Youth Advisory Council and Founder of Darul Tawheed Islamic Institute, Sheikh Doctuur, Abudujana Ibn Basha, has called on the Northern Regional Minister, Ali Adolf John, to take urgent steps to create job opportunities for the region’s youth.
Doctuur Abudujana described unemployment as a national security threat that requires immediate attention. He made these remarks during a courtesy visit to the minister’s office in Tamale, where he also congratulated him on his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama.
Addressing the minister, the Islamic scholar stressed the dire need for employment among the youth, stating, “I want to remind you about the youth. They keep knocking at my door. They need jobs, and something must be done.”
He further urged the minister to explore ways of addressing unemployment in the Northern Region, emphasizing its impact on national security. “Please do whatever you can to create jobs for them. This is a matter of national security,” he added.
During the visit, Dr. Abudujana also informed the minister about his upcoming trip to Zabzugu with the Konkomba Chief Imam for a Da’wa (Islamic outreach) initiative aimed at fostering peace between the Dagombas and Konkombas.
In response, Northern Regional Minister Ali Adolf John expressed appreciation for the visit and assured the scholar of his commitment to tackling unemployment. “I want to use this opportunity to thank you for all that you have done for the party during the electioneering period. I assure you that we will take all necessary steps to address the unemployment situation in the region,” he said.
