The Assembly Members of Zabzugu District Assembly have confirmed Mr. George Lakoba Tanie as the District Chief Executive, marking a new chapter in the district’s leadership. The confirmation vote, supervised by officials from the Electoral Commission, saw Mr. George Lakoba Tanie secure 22 votes, representing 100% of the total votes cast.
The election was closely monitored by key stakeholders, including Hon. Adolf Ali Mbrudiba, the Northern Regional Minister, constituency executives from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP), three former District Chief Executives of the area, traditional authorities, and party faithful.
In his address to the assembly members and the gathering, the newly confirmed District Chief Executive (DCE) for Zabzugu District, George Lakoba Tanie, expressed his deepest gratitude to the Chiefs, people of Zabzugu District, and key stakeholders for their unwavering support. He specifically thanked the Hon. Regional Minister, Regional and Constituency party executives, Hon. Member of Parliament, and Assembly Members for their cooperation and support.
“I will continue to work tirelessly to deliver on our promises. I will also strive to make a difference in the lives of our citizens, in order to create opportunities and build a brighter tomorrow,” Tanie stated.
The newly confirmed DCE emphasized the importance of unity and collective effort in driving progress and development in the district. “This victory is not just about me, but it is about the people I am coming to serve. It is about the hope I will inspire, the opportunities I will create and the lives I will touch,” he added.
The Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Adolf Ali Mbrudiba, before the confirmation at the Zabzugu District Assembly hall, took advantage of the occasion to emphasize the importance of peaceful co-existence among the people of Zabzugu. “What I want Konkombas and Dagombas to know is that nothing can separate them from being neighbours, so it is better you accept each other as one to foster development. Until thy kingdom comes, Konkombas and Dagombas will be neighbours.” He advised.
The Minister also encouraged Dagombas and Konkombas in the area to inter-marry and give birth to children, as that will bring everlasting peace and integration in the area. “Inter-marry and give birth for each other as that will facilitate everlasting peace in the area because they will see each other as family members and will not like to carry weapons to hunt one another.” He encouraged.
He appreciated all the supporting groups, such as chiefs, religious leaders, tribal associations, youth groups, Political Parties, Coordinating Director, Security Agencies, and Media, during the process of confirmation.
