In a significant development, the Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Ali Adolf John Mburidiba, has hailed the unanimous approval of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) nominees across 14 out of 16 Municipalities and Districts in the Northern Region. The confirmation process, which took place from April 14 to 29, 2025, saw an unprecedented consensus, with almost all nominees receiving 100% “Yes” votes.
Representing President John Dramani Mahama, Hon. Ali Adolf congratulated the newly confirmed MMDCEs and emphasized the importance of teamwork and stakeholder engagement in driving regional development. “I call on all stakeholders to support our newly confirmed MMDCEs, and I assure the people of this region that President John Dramani Mahama is committed to fulfilling his promises,” Hon. Ali Adolf said. “By working together, we can leverage our collective expertise and resources to implement effective projects and policies that benefit the Northern Region.”
The confirmed nominees include Hon. Adam Abukari Takoro (Tamale Metropolitan Assembly), Hon. Imoro Yakubu Kakpagu (Kumbungu District), Hon. Sugri Muniru (Yendi Municipal), and others. Hon. Mburidiba urged the MMDCEs to prioritize policies that align with the President’s vision for the region’s development.
The newly confirmed Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives expressed gratitude to President Mahama for appointing them, acknowledging the trust placed in them. They pledged to work diligently to meet his expectations and serve their communities effectively.

The Kpandia and Tatale-Sanguli districts are still pending, with nominees expected to be released later. The confirmation process marked a historic milestone, underscoring the confidence and trust in the nominees and the governing process.
