Abdul Karim Babana Abubakari has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Northern Regional Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking at the declaration ceremony, Mr. Abdul Karim said his decision was motivated by what he described as the need for a new standard of leadership within the party’s youth wing, with greater emphasis on service, accountability and youth empowerment.
He said many young people have become frustrated with political promises that are not followed by meaningful action, stressing that leadership should be demonstrated through service rather than rhetoric.
Mr. Abdul Karim, who currently serves on the Board of the Student Loan Trust Fund, said his experience has exposed him to the challenges confronting young people, including difficulties in accessing education, unemployment and limited support for young entrepreneurs.
He said if given the mandate, he would work towards transforming the NDC youth wing into an empowerment hub focused on connecting young people to skills training, economic opportunities and financial support.
He cited his previous efforts in securing scholarships, which he said were worth 600-thousand Ghana cedis for students across the country, particularly in the Northern Region.
