T-Poly lecturer urged Dagbon students to be serious about their academic work

A lecture at the Tamale Polytechnic, Mohammed Aliu has urged students, especially those from the Dagbon traditional area to take their academic work seriously to prepare them to become responsible citizens.
He said in spite of financial and other socio-economic challenges facing them, much were expected from them to uplift the image of Dagbon.
Mr. Aliu who is affectionately called “One-man” believes this is the only way northern Ghana can move forward in terms of development.
The lecturer said this at a handing-over ceremony of Dagbon Students Association (DASA) branch of the Tamale Polytechnic.
He told the students that, posterity would not forgive them if they failed to utilize the opportunities at given. He said that, though some students faced socio-economic challenges while pursuing their education, such challenges should not impede their chosen career.
Mr. Aliu reminded the students the need to peaceful coexist and called on all to bury their differences for the development of Dagbon.
He also called on the people of Dagbon to support and cooperate with the authorities of the polytechnic to train responsible future leaders for the country.
The Regional President of DASA, Jagbo Baako advised the students to desist from meddling with issues that have the tendency to create confusion saying “this is the only way to that can help reduce the deprivation of the people in Dagbon”. 
He expressed worry about activities of some northern intellectuals who he said were using their intellects to create animosity among the people instead of helping to unite them.
Mr. Jagbo advised the youth of Dagbon not allow themselves to be used by politicians to destroy Dagbon.
The out-gone T-Poly DASA president Mr Salifu Abdul-Latif appealed to parents to invest in their children's education, adding it would give them sound min to study.   Mr Abdul-Latif expressed his delight about the conduct of DASA members on campus and urged them not to indulge in any negative activities during their stay in the school.
