NLA Director-General Assures Public as Workers Embark on Industrial Action‎

‎The Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Alhaji Mohammed Abdul-Salam, has assured the public that management is taking decisive steps to address the issues that have triggered an industrial action by workers of the Authority.
‎The assurance follows an industrial action embarked upon by NLA workers on Monday, August 24, 2026, during which the workers reportedly called for the removal of the Director-General while raising concerns over their conditions of service, operational challenges and the Authority’s revenue performance.
‎In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Alhaji Mohammed Abdul-Salam said the situation had been carefully assessed and was being handled with the urgency and attention required.


‎“A test of leadership requires one to be capable of readily assessing problems and responding appropriately to overcome challenges,” he said.


‎The Director-General assured his well-wishers and the people of Ghana that the situation was under control, stressing that the Management and Board of the NLA were taking appropriate measures to address the concerns.

‎“The Management and Board of the National Lottery Authority are quickly and appropriately addressing the current situation,” he stated.

‎He also called on the Local Union to adhere to the formal statement issued by the Board and return to the negotiating table to facilitate dialogue and help resolve the outstanding issues.

‎“I invite the Local Union to adhere to the formal statement released by the Board and return to the negotiating table,” he said.

‎Alhaji Abdul-Salam further expressed appreciation to members of the public, stakeholders and well-wishers who had sent messages of solidarity and support following the industrial action.

‎“I want to use this opportunity to thank you all for your messages of solidarity and support,” he stated.

‎He reaffirmed management’s commitment to the mandate of the NLA and its contribution to national development.

‎“Indeed, we are resolutely committed to delivering on our mandate of contributing towards the development of our nation and its people,” he added.

‎The development comes amid growing concerns among NLA workers over working conditions, operational challenges and the Authority’s revenue performance, with the Local Union seeking changes in the leadership of the Authority.

‎The Director-General’s statement signals management’s readiness to engage the workers and address the concerns through dialogue and the established institutional processes.
