TAMALE, NORTHERN REGION — The Yelzoli Gbang-Lana and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Zaa Multimedia, Alhaji Muhammad Umar, has cut the sod for the construction of a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) school in Zabzugu, marking a significant step towards expanding skills development and creating opportunities for the youth.
The project follows an appeal by the leadership of the existing TVET institution, which is currently operating from structures belonging to the Zabzugu District Assembly.
The sod-cutting ceremony officially commenced the construction process, with the new facility expected to provide a dedicated environment for technical and vocational education and skills training in the area.
Speaking at the ceremony, Alhaji Muhammad Umar said the project represented an important investment in the future of the youth, particularly at a time when practical skills and vocational training had become increasingly important in addressing unemployment and promoting self-reliance.
He stressed the need for young people to acquire employable skills that could enable them to create their own opportunities rather than relying solely on limited formal-sector employment.
The Yelzoli Gbang-Lana also used the occasion to appeal to investors to explore the numerous economic and investment opportunities available in Zabzugu.
He assured potential investors that the traditional authorities remained committed to supporting legitimate businesses and creating a conducive environment for investment to thrive.
According to him, attracting investors to Zabzugu would help stimulate economic activity, create employment opportunities for the youth and contribute to improving the livelihoods of residents.
The construction of the TVET school, he noted, should therefore be viewed not merely as an infrastructure project but as an investment in human capital, youth empowerment and the long-term socio-economic development of the area.
The facility is expected to improve access to technical and vocational education and equip young people with practical skills in various trades and areas of enterprise.
Stakeholders in Zabzugu have subsequently been encouraged to support the project and other development initiatives aimed at creating sustainable opportunities for the youth and accelerating development in the constituency.
The sod-cutting ceremony thus marks another important step towards strengthening skills development in Zabzugu and opening new pathways for young people to secure livelihoods, establish businesses and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.
