Dr Adams Jnr donates GHC30,000 to needy patients at Yendi Hospital, distributes over 300 hot meals

A philanthropist and Founder of Northern College of Science and Technology in Yendi, Dr Nathaniel Adams Jnr, has donated more than GHC30,000 to support critically ill patients at the Yendi Government Hospital as part of activities marking his 50th birthday celebration.

 The donation exercise also saw the distribution of more than 300 hot meals, including breakfast, lunch, and supper, to in-patients, their relatives, and hospital staff. Eleven critically ill patients received financial support to facilitate urgent medical treatment. The beneficiaries were identified by hospital authorities based on the severity of their conditions and financial difficulties.

 Among the beneficiaries were a nurse, Mammah Samiratu, whose six-year-old son is suffering from a hole-in-heart condition, as well as a seven-day-old baby born with genital abnormalities who requires surgery.

The event, held at the hospital premises in Yendi, formed part of activities commemorating Dr Adams’ 50th birthday celebration, which took place last Saturday. It was attended by officials from the health and education sectors, opinion leaders, and members of the community.

 Some beneficiaries who spoke to the media expressed gratitude to Dr Adams for the gesture and prayed for Allah’s blessings upon him for supporting the needy.

Speaking at a grand durbar to climax the celebration, Dr Nathaniel Adams Jnr said half of his 50 years in Dagbon had been spent in Yendi, where he has dedicated himself to promoting education, particularly in science and technology.

 He expressed appreciation to the chiefs and people of Dagbon for their continuous support, hospitality, and cooperation, which have enabled him to contribute to the training of responsible future leaders.

 Dr Adams further advised the youth to cultivate the habit of helping others and contributing positively to society for the sake of humanity.

The Yendi Municipal Director of the Ghana Health Service, Joana Qoarcoo, commended Dr Adams for his consistent support towards healthcare delivery in the municipality.

She appealed to other benevolent individuals and institutions to emulate the gesture by extending support to needy patients receiving treatment at the hospital.
