Gushegu: NDC – NPP clash over road construction

Confusion broke out between the New Patriotic Party executives and the youth in Gushegu friday morning over the construction of roads in the town.

The confusion follows a disagreement between the NPP chairman in the constituency and the District Chief executive (DCE) for the area, Mr. Issah Musah, to allow the NDC parliamentary candidate, Mr. Mohammed Yussif Malimali to reshape roads within the town.

According to the chairman and the DCE, the assembly had contracted out the construction of the roads and therefore would not allow Mr. MaliMali to reshape them.

And sticking to their pledge not to allow Mr. MaliMali to exert any influence on the construction of the roads, the chairman and the DCE chased the contractor brought in by Mr. MaliMali, away. The action by the duo enraged the youth of the area who hit the street and demanded that work continued.

Speaking to Zaa news, the Assembly member for Nayili Fong, Mr. Soale Alidu refuted claims by the DCE that the roads have been given out for contract. According to him, discussions on awarding the roads to contract have not been done at the assembly.

Meanwhile, the chief of Gusheigu has instructed the contractor working on the roads to stop and  gave the Assembly three days to start work on the roads.
