The Zabzugu District witnessed a solemn and culturally rich ceremony as the third-day funeral rites of the late Yelizoli Lana Iddrisu Imoro II were observed. The event brought together dignitaries, traditional leaders, and community members from across the Northern Region to pay their respects to a cherished leader.
The late Yelizoli Lana Iddrisu Imoro II, remembered as a pillar of peace, unity, and development, left an enduring legacy that was celebrated during the rites. His contributions to the progress and well-being of his people were highlighted through tributes and traditional performances.
Born in 1914 into the royal lineage of the late Yelizoli Lana Abdulai, the late chief had a distinguished leadership career. He served in various capacities, beginning as Peng Lana (1984–1997), then as Nyankpala Lana (1997–1999), and later as Lagban Lana (1999–2019). His journey culminated in his enskinment as Yelizoli Lana on April 29, 2019.
The seven day funeral rites and installation of regent are scheduled for December 27, 2024, in Zabzugu, an event anticipated to draw attendees from far and near. The occasion will provide an opportunity for the people to honor the memory of a leader who dedicated his life to the service of his community.
As preparations for the final rites commence, the people of Zabzugu remain united in their prayers for the peaceful repose of their beloved chief’s soul.
