Jana rainstorm disaster꞉ Former Ghana Consul-General to Jeddah supports victims with cement, roofing sheets and money
Former Ghana Consul-General to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Kamal-Deen Abdulai has donated 100 bags of cement, 10 boxes of roofing sheets and GH¢5,000 cash towards the reconstruction of the Jana Central Mosque in the Nanton District.
The donation follows a rainstorm disaster that hit the Jana community on May 5, 2026, at about 5:00 p.m., destroying several houses and properties.
Victims of the disaster have since appealed to government, philanthropists and benevolent individuals for support to help rebuild their homes and livelihoods.
One of the hardest-hit structures was the community’s central mosque, which was badly damaged by the storm.

The support from Alhaji Kamal-Deen Abdulai came as a major relief to residents, making him the first individual to provide direct assistance to the community since the incident occurred.
Before presenting the items, Alhaji Kamal-Deen paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Jana at his palace.
Addressing residents at the forecourt of the damaged mosque, Alhaji Kamal-Deen expressed sympathy to the affected families and assured the community of his commitment to mobilizing additional support from philanthropists and organizations in Accra to assist victims rebuild their homes. He further pledged an additional GH¢10,000 to support the affected residents.

A community member who spoke on behalf of the resident’s expressed gratitude to Alhaji Kamal-Deen for the timely intervention and for being the first person to come to their aid following the disaster.
According to him, although several individuals and government agencies had visited the community after the rainstorm, no tangible support had been provided until the former Consul-General’s intervention.
The Chief of Jana also thanked Alhaji Kamal-Deen for the gesture and prayed for Allah’s blessings upon him.
The Chief noted that although Alhaji Kamal-Deen is neither a Member of Parliament nor a District Chief Executive, he still demonstrated compassion and humanity by supporting the community in their difficult moment.
He described the donation as a significant contribution towards the reconstruction of the mosque and rebuilding efforts in the community.
