14-year-old girl diagnosed with aggressive childhood cancer appeals for GHC 100,000 treatment support
A 14-year-old girl from Yobzeri in the Tolon District of the Northern Region is appealing to individuals, philanthropists and organizations for financial support to undergo urgent treatment after being diagnosed with Pelvic Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer.
The victim, Ayisha, has spent over five months at the Paediatric Oncology Unit of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) receiving medical care following the diagnosis.
Doctors say Ayisha condition requires immediate and continuous treatment including chemotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy as well as supportive care.
According to medical experts, the estimated cost of the full treatment is about GHC 100,000, covering chemotherapy sessions, imaging and laboratory investigations, radiation therapy and other supportive medical expenses.
Family members say they have exhausted all their financial resources in an attempt to save the young girl’s life and are now appealing to the public to come to their aid to ensure that treatment is not interrupted.
The family disclosed that Ayisha urgently needs at least GHC 25,000 to begin radiation therapy before the full treatment process can continue.
Speaking to Zaa News, a brother of the patient, Alhassan Issah, said the family had reached out to several individuals including the Member of Parliament for Tolon Constituency, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, for assistance but had not yet received any response.
He explained that after Ayisha was discharged from the Tamale Teaching Hospital, she continued attending chemotherapy sessions every Monday for two months, with each session costing between GHC 200 and GHC 1,000, bringing the total expenses to over GHC 9,000. Currently, Ayisha remains at home as the family struggles to raise funds to continue her treatment.

The family is therefore appealing to the general public, benevolent organizations and philanthropists to support Ayisha financially and logistically to help save her life.
