The constituency primaries of the controversial newly created constituencies in the northern region have ended without violence confrontation among the aspirants as speculated by some sections of the public.
Though the constitutional Instrument regarding the creation of the constituencies is being challenged by some members of parliament over certain mistakes in the various electoral areas, the ruling National Democratic Congress is perturbed about the legal wrangling and have gone ahead with their plans to perhaps to increase their seats in the 2012 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Some appointees and civil servants loyal to the NDC since the announcement of the new constituencies started jostling for yet- to- be constituencies. The Electoral commission about a week agoplaced before Parliament, a CI 73 seeking to give legal effect to the creation of the constituencies because of errors.
It was immediately replaced by an amended CI which requires 21 sitting days to mature but Parliament is on recess now and in spite of the fact that the constituencies have yet to receive legal backing, the NDC is electing its candidates for the constituencies.

First a party stalwart of an agency under the communications ministry, Mr. Alhassan Umar is the Chief Executive Officer of Information Technology Enable services (ITES) who hailed from Zabzugu after serving the country in devise ways to improve livelihoods of rural people contested Zabzugu constituency which was carved out Tatale and won.
Mr Alhassan Umar by the powers vested on regional director of elections of NDC is now the parliamentary candidate for the Zabzugu constituency to battle with incumbent MP from the opposition New Patriotic Party.
Mr Alhassan polled 181 to beat his only challenger Alhaji Ibrahim Sayibu who polled 65 votes. The District Chief Executive for Damogo Adam Mutawakil also obtained 131 votes to beat Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru and kassim Bakari Ali who polled 39 votes each.
In the Daboya constituency, Baani Abudu Nelson beat his close contenders with 103 votes with Sammy B. Wusa obtaining 77 votes whiles Lawyer Shaibu Mahama had 44 votes.
Joseph Bipoba Naabo also won the Yunyoo constituency primaries with 139 votes whiles Samuel Poriya Buya obtained 39 and Samuel Dawuni Mato had 49 votes.
A night Editor of the Daily graphic, Alhaji Bashiru Alhassan Fuseini has also been elected as the parliamentary candidate for the newly created Sagnarigu North Constituency on the ticket of NDC.
He polled 112 votes to beat his closers contended Olivia Hawa Yahaya, who polled 93 votes and the Deputy Women and Children’s Affair Minister, Hajia Hawawu Gariba Boay who has 10 votes. Salifu Alabira obtained 2 votes whiles Richard Yakubu Andani had 1 vote.
The election which was organized by the northern regional executives of the party went smoothly in spite of earlier acrimony by some aspirants over their disqualifications by the vetting committee.
Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini was carried out by enthusiastic supporters at the Discovery Hotel in Jesunayili.
The northern regional Director of elections of the NDC, Iddrisu Rashid Tanko Computer lauded thanked delegates for peaceful manner they conducted themselves through out the process and urged them to work hard to ensured victory for the NDC in the up coming general elections.
Mr Tanko Computer also thanked the aspirants for accepting the verdicts of the delegates and appealed to them rally behind the candidate to win the Sagnarigu North seat come December 7 lections.
A total of two hundred and twenty two delegates were expected to cast their votes. Of the number 219 delegates casted, 3 absent, with 1 spoil ballot.
The regional director of elections who doubles as the regional NDC treasury told Zaa News that the party was organizing the primaries not because it does not respect on ongoing debate about the controversial CI, but to prepared grounds very well awaiting the legislature final decision on the CI.
Among the dignitaries who graced the occasion were the northern regional minister, Moses Bukari Mabengba and the Deputy National Organizer of the NDC, Akamba Amindu. ]]>
